Cycling from Sacheln to Dossenhütte base in Swizerland

Read my experince of previous day cycling in Part 3 - Cycling from Mythen to Sacheln.

We reached Sacheln on the night before and we really had a great sleep which was much needed for our body to get rest. We didn't waste much time on cellphones and quickly went to bed so that we could wake up early next day.

We did wake up early and had an quick breakfast. We had planned to our journey around 8 am as Henry  modified the plan a bit. There were 2 climb today, one was Brunig pass and other after Inner Kirchen, which is an interesting place. I will tell about that later.

The change in plan was to board a train for halfway till Brunig pass. We had a hectic day before, so we decided to have some relax time and travel this pass by train which like 30 mins of travel. Afterwards we could cycle along the way till Dossenhut base. Check the map below.

So we started our day sharp at 8 am and left for the Sacheln station avoiding one pass to climb

There are machines outside station where you can pay for your ticket and also for your cycles. I bought my tickets. Henry however used a ticketing app. It's a GPS based ticketing system made for Swiss citizen. You have to install an app and connect with the wallet. Whenever you have to travel in train point A to point B, you need to switch on your GPS in the app. Scan/mark the starting point and switch it off when you get down. Fare will be deducted from your wallet. It's a nice and simple app, no use of papers etc. Though there are ticket checkers, if they come and scan your phone for your location.

Sachseln Station.  I was spending some time looking around there was beautiful lake just behind the station.

The train arrived at the another platform.

The fun part is all these Swiss trains that they are equipped with the cycle racks. When you are boarding the train with the cycle look for those signs on the door, if you don't find them on the station.

Even all the buses have cycle racks.

The doors are big enough and this how cycle you can put just hang in there.

Finally we settled down. I was looking out of the big window experiencing the beautiful view as we climb the Brunni pass. i could see some of most beautiful town down there. I don't remember the names.

The road was going parallel with the track and one we were suppose to ride. I was astonished to see the  tranquil blue lake.

After 20 mins, we got down at the station Hasliberg. This is the top of Brunig pass.

Now it's time to cycle up. You can look at the map of our route of further journey.

And we were back on the road little down hill now towards the town of Meriginen where we need to buy some snacks. I even wanted to buy some postcards. I found Meriginen as an interesting place. Not many of us knew nor I did until we reached and Henry told me so. This was the time to hit the road back again.

We were on the main road for a little while and soon we were to go on to the cycling routes.
We got our first glimpse of the peak. It looked near to me.

Well though it looked near but it wasn't at all. We still needed to head down and do another uphill climb. The scale of the Alps is huge. It unfolds it's beauty as more sections we cross down the hill.

Along the way I saw few kids taking the training of mountain climbing session. Switzerland education system gives equal importance to the outdoors as well. They seem to have acknowledged the importance of outdoors education is as equally important as that regular school education.

A little more of riding down!

after while we entered the town of Meriginen where we bought some energy bars and some juice packs.

I was going to tell you the importance of this place, Meriginen.  There is this small place known as Scattenhalb just after this town.and this is well famous for Sherlock where he died against the battle with professor Moriarty. This town has all these Sherlock stuff clubs cafes here.

The top view of the place.

Reichenbach falls where Sherlock died. We were supposed to start our uphill climb from here.

Now we could see the climb in front of us. It  looked very near, as if the peak was just behind the climb. Since we also planned to hike on the same day, we started to grip ourselves and also taking less breaks now without wasting much time.

We left the town below as we started to made extreme uphill. I started to feel the heat on my knees but once your body catches a rhythm and you stop thinking  much you can climb easily.
Ohhh wait! Did i mention that i was using the electric bycyle? Lolz now you guys will say, damn Vinayak that's why you could do it easily... but NO! Electric dose helped me at certain level but not on the uphill climb. Also these cycles are twice as heavy than the regular one. So yeah, it wasn't that easy.  ;-)

You can see the town below as we made little progression.

You can enjoy some waterfalls as well. Even I thought to take dip myself but the water was too cold since it comes directly from the glacier, so I would recommend not to do it. You might fall sick.

After a rigorous uphill climb, aha finally a flat ground. It felt like a blessing to my knees.

Also the cars are not allowed you can only experience this route by cycle or take the bus.

check the top view this place.  This is where we were.

The Hotel Rosenlaui which was our base. We kept our cycles there. It's a very old hotel, I wonder why I didn't click the photo of the place, may be I was too hungry. I found this image on internet.

Hotel Rosenlaui which is the base for most of the peaks near by.

We parked our bikes and after eating a little and some washroom break, it was the time for the hike.

It is a memorable climb, rather it is one of the most beautiful place I have been too..
