Descending down from Dossenhütte, Switzerland

Continuing from from previous blog on  Cycling and Hiking across Switzerland, Part 5: Climbing Dossenhut. ...

What a sleep! I remember having some warm soup and some basic food they provided, we went up to our sleeping place. We have to keep quiet because there are other climbers and hikers who resting and maintaining silence is considered very important here so better you don't disturb them. I went into my sleeping bag and immediately slept. I don't remember anything, once slept :P

Next morning we woke up around 7 am. Again started to wrap up early as today's target was to reach base and cycle uphill towards Grindelwalld from there ride to Lauterburren valley now.  Lauterburren valley is the place where all the tourist around the world will flock in and you might feel the place as little crowed. This is the place where DDLJ movie was shot and SRK and Kajol danced on the street. I will write in my next blog about that place.  ;)

We wrapped up our bags and now it was time to go down which is more risky than climbing up. We started early to avoid the melting ice which can trigger stone falls from top or from under your feet. It was a long way down, but looking at below image you might feel the distance as short and we might be quick to descend. Well it is not. I will show you the scale of glacier and mountain and us in the comparison with few drone image which I managed to take early morning.

These are us walking on that little narrow ridge with huge vertical drop on the both side.

Walking on the ride. I have taken this pic from drone from other side..

You can see Henry down there, It is very dangerous to navigate the ridge. This is the reason why I would recommend only to climb these kind of peaks in Alps if you have some good background in trekking and climbing. And offcourse no fear of height, the descent is not for light hearted.

Yeah, but the little pain will gain a beautiful view of majestic Alps.

A beautiful 360 degree view from the top of Dossenhut.

Time to wrap up! I kept all my camera equipment in the bags with this last image of scary traverse.

It was a long way down to the base.

The experience of climbing peaks in Alps is kind of once in lifetime experience for me. The unique way of exploring Alps is cycle and hike. I must recommend: one-of-a-kind experiences, inspiration, authentic and a good deal.

We reached the base and it was time to cycle towards lauter burren valley.....

to be continued .....
